Renault Laguna (B56/K56). 1993–2001 (prod. 2,350,800 approx.). 5-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, 1598, 1783, 1948, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1783, 1794, 1998 cm³ petrol, 1870, 2188 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 2946 cm³ (V6 DOHC), 2963 cm³ (V6 OHC). Successor to 21, now with a name, with the estate version called Nevada in some markets. No four-door booted model—hatchback was the sole saloon. Estate had seven-seat option. Better equipment levels than 21 (with the exception of the base model at launch, and the 1·8 OHC 90 PS model was underpowered. Much better quality than predecessor. Optional driver’s side airbag. Mid-term changes 1998, with new headlights, front bumper, more safety equipment, and 16-valve engines. Revised diesels but with some teething problems.
