Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais (A-special/G-body). 1978–84 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé. F/R, 3790 cm³ petrol, 4280 cm³ diesel (V6 OHV), 4268, 4387, 4999, 5031, 5734 cm³ petrol, 5737 cm³ diesel (V8 OHV). Performance-oriented version of Cutlass Supreme, with 442 performance package offered 1980. Bucket seats, stabilizer bars and five-speed gearbox offered, along with full instrumentation. Hurst/Olds based on Calais, and was offered in 1979, built entirely at Oldsmobile, with 2,499 made. Hurst/Olds returned for 1983–4, with Hurst Lightning Rod floor shifter and 307 in³ (5031 cm³) engine; 3,001 and 3,500 built over the two model years. Calais renamed Cutlass Salon in 1985, and the Calais nameplate was shifted to a compact model.
