Nissan Gloria Cima (FPY31). 1987–91 (prod. 120,000 approx. sold, incl. Cedric Cima). 4-door hardtop sedan. F/R, 2960 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Nissan’s obsession with following Toyota meant that the class 3 versions of the Toyota Crown (S130), specifically the V8-powered Royal Saloon G, needed a response. Gloria Cima was the stretched version of the Y31 Gloria, sold at Prince dealers, equipped with the DOHC 3·0 V6, some models with the turbocharger. Different appearance to basic Gloria, with more imposing proportions. Sales began January 18, 1988. Electronically controlled air suspension, and very refined. Very successful, thanks to the Japanese bubble economy, and credited with the growth in sales of class 3 cars in Japan. Mid-term changes 1989, with equipment upgrades, including navigation. Some Cimas found themselves as hire cars.
