1996 Nissan Cima.jpg

Nissan Cima (FY33). 1996–2001 (prod. n/a). F/R, F/A, 2987 cm³ (V6 DOHC), 4130 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Looking far grander than its predecessor and apeing the Germans in some styling respects, third-generation Cima was also exported, with minor differences, as the Infiniti Q45. First SRS side airbag in a Japanese car. Tenth anniversary models in January 1997, minor changes later that year, with CRTs swapped out for LCDs; the odometer went digital, too. Four-wheel-drive models added. Refresh in 1998, with first active headrest in a Japanese car; in 1999, Cima scored another first with a laser sensor for adaptive cruise control. Plenty of power, and well appointed, even if it played second fiddle to the Toyota Celsior (F20) (Lexus LS) on export, and its interior began to look dated at the end of the run.

Manufacturing location: Tochigi, Tochigi, Japan

Marque: Nissan | Model: Nissan Cima | Predecessors: Nissan Cima (FY32) | Successor: Nissan Cima (F50)
