McLaren P1. 2013–16 (prod. 375, plus 35 GTR). 2-door coupé. M/R, 3799 cm³–4 kWh petrol–electric hybrid (V8 DOHC). Supercar with 916 PS on tap, thanks to the twin-turbo V8 and extra 179 PS from the plug-in electric motor, with immediately available torque. Each car custom-built to order, with production time 17 days per car. Extensive use of carbonfibre, with weight of 1,450 kg; Monocage chassis weighed 90 kg. Chassis control suspension system could stiffen the suspension by 300 per cent in Race mode, lower the car 50 mm and extend the rear wing 300 mm. McLaren claimed a 0–100 km/h time of 2·8 s, while Autocar test showed 0–60 mph in the same time. Claimed 34 mpg on EY combined cycle. Production concluded December 2015 for regular model. Track-only GTR (2015–16) with 1,000 PS, with reduced weight. Well made, but very pricey.
