Maruti Suzuki Baleno (YRA). 2015 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, 998 cm³ (I3 DOHC), 1242 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Shown at the IAA in 2015, Baleno slotted above the Swift, on a new platform, and targeted the Hyundai Élite i20 in India. Light (905 kg) but felt well planted, and practical. Good handling but little feedback through steering wheel. Touch-screen easy to use, if a little slow in response. The 1·2 engine featured high compression; another version had mild hybrid features (an added 0·2 kWh lithium–ion battery); triple proved very willing. Badge-engineered on the home market as the Toyota Glanza from 2019, and exported as the Toyota Starlet to some African countries from 2020.
