Lincoln LS. 2000–6 (prod. 262,900 approx.). 4-door sedan. F/R, 2967 cm³ (V6 DOHC), 3934 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Lincoln attempted to challenge the Cadillac Catera and BMW 5er-Reihe (E39), and had a good start, named as Motor Trend’s Car of the Year for 2000. Jaguar-derived engines, with a manual transmission available with the V6. Angular design from German-born Helmuth Schräder. Reasonably good handling with good ride, but more a tourer than a sporting sedan. Mid-term revisions for 2003 model year, when manual cancelled due to lack of demand. The competition developed more quickly, and annual LS sales dwindled into the four figures by 2006.

Manufacturing location: Wixom, Michigan, USA

Marque: Lincoln | Predecessor: Lincoln Mark VIII | Successor: Lincoln Zephyr (2006)
