Hyundai Excel (X1). 1986–9 (prod. n/a). 3- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1298, 1468 cm³ (I4 OHC). Renamed Pony Excel, bringing the home-market name in line with the export one. No real differences, and still with quality issues. Three-door added from 1987, denoted Sporty in Korea. Badge-engineered as Mitsubishi Précis in US market. Four-door, while sold as Excel for export, was the Hyundai Presto at home.
