2020 Hyundai Elantra.jpg

Hyundai Avante/Hyundai Elantra (CN7). 2020 to date (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, 1353, 1497, 1591, 1598, 1999 cm³ petrol, 1580 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid, 1591 cm³ LPG (I4 DOHC). Hyundai pushes Avante further upmarket, though it is held back by a lack of refinement and an average interior. Longer, lower and wider, with notable increase in rear legroom, beating Civic and Corolla, though boot space down slightly. Fastback styling a stand-out. Top models with two 10·3 in displays, one for instrumentation and the other for infotainment, linked under a single glass panel; lesser models make do with a single 8 in one. Selectable mood lighting and wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Chinese models, badged Elantra, with 1·4 turbo and 1·5 units; also badged Elantra in US. Hybrid linked to a 1·32 kWh lithium-ion battery. Multi-link suspension at rear, which made Avante well planted; hybrid even better on this score.

Manufacturing locations: Ulsan, Korea; Montgomery, Alabama, USA; Beijing, China
