Holden Statesman (HZ). 1977–80 (prod. 154,155 all HZ). 4-door sedan. F/R, 5047 cm³ (V8 OHV). Further improvements for Holden flagship, with the addition of third, sportier trim level, SL/E, in 1979. Radial Tuned Suspension meant far improved handling, even if it came late in the game, and four-wheel disc brakes were also introduced. Refined and stable, if steering vague, and suffered somewhat when compared to the newer, but less prestigious Commodore that was launched during its run. Base de Ville considered very good value for a large car; Caprice retailed at a heady (for then) A$17,000.
