Glas
From AutocadeHans Glas founded his company in 1895, making agricultural equipment before branching into motor cars. Initially, Glas made scooters and the Goggomobil microcars, but in the 1960s, the company began manufacturing a line of compacts (with engines designed by ex-BMW Leonhard Ischinger), the mid-sized 1700 (which resembled the BMW 1500), as well as the larger 2600 GT. The company eventually sold out to a resurgent BMW in 1966, which sought extra factory space for its successful 1500 model. BMW built some of the Glas models briefly with its own brand, before phasing them out by 1968. The Dingolfing site currently manufactures BMWs and bodies for Rolls-Royce.
