2007 Ford Mustang.jpg

Ford Mustang (S197). 2005–9 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 3996 cm³ (V6 OHC), 4601 cm³ (V8 OHC), 5411 cm³ (V8 DOHC). New Mustang on new D2C platform, related to DEW98 that underpinned Jaguar S-type (1998–2007). Developed under chief engineer Hau Thai-Tang and exterior styling designer Sid Ramnarace, echoing 1969–70 models. Not the most efficient given that V6 only produces 213 PS, though Shelby GT500 does generate 504 PS. Live beam rear axle seemed out of place; Ford defended it on the grounds that customers would customize their cars. Sold on Mustang image, still attractive in the 2000s, and value for money in North America.

Manufacturing location: Flat Rock, Michigan, USA

Marque: Ford | Model: Ford Mustang | Predecessor: Ford Mustang (1999–2004) | Successor: Ford Mustang (2010–14)
