Ford Fusion/Ford Mondeo (CD391). 2012–22 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, 999 cm³ (I3 DOHC), 1498 cm³ diesel, 1499, 1596, 1999, 2488 cm³ petrol, 1999 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid (I4 DOHC), 2694 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Taking Mondeo Mk IV as a base, Ford developed the new Fusion, to replace its CD-class models globally. Heavily altered Mondeo platform, using again MacPherson struts at front, multi-link suspension at rear, though latter reworked to an integral link design, similar to Audi and BMW. Softer than previous Mondeo. Same wheelbase as before, at 2,850 mm. Fusion launch first for 2013 model year, solely as a four-door sedan. Likened to Aston Martin models at front; styling headed by Brit Chris Hamilton. Mk V Mondeo features Ecoboost 1·0 developing 123 bhp and new 1·5 diesel. Related to new Lincoln MKZ (CD533). Mondeo version finally launched in 2014 as Ford wound up its Belgian factory. Facelift unveiled 2016, for 2017 US model year; V6 for Fusion Sport from 2016. European facelift 2019, with addition of hybrid estate and rotary-shift dial for automatic transmission. Last North American Fusions made in July 2020.
