Ford Fiesta Mk III.jpg

Ford Fiesta/Ford Fiesta Classic (BE13). 1989–97 (prod. n/a). 3- and 5-door saloon. F/F, 999, 1119, 1297 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1392, 1596, 1598, 1796 cm³ petrol, 1753 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). All-new Fiesta, with five-door option for the first time. Cute design supposedly inspired by Peugeot 205. Ford aimed for classlessness, though the car itself fell short of the mark when compared with French superminis. XR2i could not beat Peugeot 205 GTI for hot-hatch honours. Mid-life revisions in 1994 saw stronger body and 16-valve engines, though Fiesta outclassed by the likes of Renault Clio and Fiat Punto. Despite arrival of Mk IV in 1995, Mk IIIs continued as Fiesta Classic for two years.

Manufacturing locations: Almussafes, Spain; Dagenham, England; Köln, Germany; Saarlouis, Germany

Marque: Ford | Model: Ford Fiesta | Predecessor: Ford Fiesta Mk II | Successor: Ford Fiesta Mk IV
