Datsun 210/Datsun W210/YLN 701. 1957–8 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 988 cm³ (I4 OHV). Evolution of 114, and outwardly, mostly identical, but with more advanced OHV engine, developing 37 bhp. C-series engine evolved ideas from the Austin B-series. More expensive to build, so it ran alongside 114, which remained in the Datsun range for the budget-conscious. First Datsun with some export success, and even competition success in Australia in the Mobilgas trial of 1958. Also made by Yue Loong of Taiwan as the YLN (Yue Loong–Nissan) 701, the country’s first car.
