Daimler Sovereign (XJ6). 1969–73 (prod. 15,141, incl. 3,233 for 2·8 and 386 for LWB). 4-door saloon, 4-door LWB saloon. F/R, 2790, 4235 cm³ (I6 DOHC). Rebadged Jaguar XJ6 with fluted grille and upscale trim. One of the world’s finest cars in its day, with comments about Jaguar model applicable here. Launched October 1969 with Sir William Lyons calling it the finest Jaguar ever. Long-wheelbase option (from 1972) only on 4·2, not on 2·8.
