Along with Caprice, sensibly downsized, with more interior and trunk space than before, yet a reduction in exterior dimensions. Better ride and handling than the competition. Became Chevrolet’s entry-level full-size car, and popular with law enforcement and taxi operators, though usually outsold by Caprice. Restyling in 1980, Computer Command Control (CCC) emission system from 1981 improved the drive, while four-speed automatic helped with fuel economy. Coupés to 1981 only, wagons to 1982. Firmer suspension for 1985, the same year the small-block 4·4 V8 was introduced.
