1993 Cadillac Eldorado Sport Coupe.jpg

Cadillac Eldorado. 1992–2002 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé. F/F, 4565 cm³ (V8 DOHC), 4893 cm³ (V8 OHV). Sleeker, cleaner design for 1992 Eldorado, clearly related to the Cadillac Seville (1992–7). More understated, elegant interior as well, though some quirks with heat and air conditioning buttons hidden behind steering wheel (except for 1996–2002 Touring Coupé, which remedied this). Eleven inches longer than previous generation, but little gain in interior space. OHV engine for 1992–3, Northstar DOHC from 1993—both providing Eldorado with a good turn of speed, the latter more so. Touring Coupés had firmer suspension; all models had reasonable refinement. Tiny space at rear. Ominously, Eldorado did not get a revamp as the Seville did for 1998, soldiering on to the end in much the same form. Last Eldorados finished in red or white, apeing 1953 model, as personal–luxury cars fell out of favour while SUVs rose in popularity. Last Cadillac coupé till CTS launched for 2011 model year.
