Buick Century (A-body). 1982–96 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 2-door coupé, 5-door wagon. F/F, 2196, 2474 cm³ (I4 OHV), 2836, 2966, 3135, 3343, 3785 cm³ petrol, 4261 cm³ diesel (V6 OHV). Premium model of A-body intermediates, downsized and moved on to front-drive platform shared with Chevrolet Celebrity, Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and Pontiac 6000. Development of X-cars, in Buick’s case, the Skylark. Roomy and refined, though not the quietest, and known for reliability, thanks to long life. V6s superior to underpowered fours in acceleration and refinement; below-average handling and ride. Wagons from 1984; refresh for 1989.
