Buick Century (1978–81)

Buick Century (A-body). 1978–81 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 2-door coupé, 5-door wagon. F/R, 196, 231 in³ (V6 OHV), 265, 301, 305 in³ (V8 OHV). Downsized intermediate, with new 196 in³ V6. Ten inches shorter than 1973–7 generation, but similar interior room. Acceptable handling among US intermediates when new. Aeroback sedans for 1978–9, but conventional notchback rear introduced for 1980. Fastback shape remained for coupés. Renamed Regal for 1982 when Century nameplate went on to front-wheel-drive A cars.
