Flagship for FAW’s premium sub-brand, designed to rival GAC Trumpchi (2010–18), Riich G6, and Hyundai Sonata (YF). Ungainly to western eyes, prestigious to Chinese ones at time of launch. Platform related to Mazda (double wishbones at front, multi-link suspension at rear), but stretched in size to exceed Toyota Camry (XV50) (2,780 mm wheelbase versus Toyota’s 2,775). Better interior quality, excepting some switchgear. Engines from Mazda as well. Good handling, thanks to Mazda tech, at the expense of ride, which might turn off conservative Chinese buyers. Responsive steering. Sold on price.
