BYD F0. 2008 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, 998 cm³ (I3 DOHC). Observers cried foul over BYD’s supermini looking like the Toyota Aygo (B10)—right down to the publicity photographs used—but the Chinese company tried to pull the wool over the public’s eyes by saying it was all its own work. Dimensions differ slightly from Aygo, and rear lights resemble Peugeot 107’s more. Similarities extend to interior. First announced as F1, name changed to F0 to avoid an intellectual property lawsuit with Formula 1; pity BYD felt differently about the rest of the car. Very basic and not well made but reports indicate above-average refinement and performance.
