BMW X1 (F48/F49). 2015–22 (prod. 1,800,000 approx. sold). 5-door SUV, 5-door LWB SUV. F/F, F/A, 1496 cm³ diesel, 1499 cm³ petrol, 8·8 kWh–1499 cm³, 10·7 kWh–1499 cm³, 24 kWh–1499 cm³ electric–petrol hybrid (I3 DOHC); 1995 cm³ diesel, 1998 cm³ petrol (I4 DOHC). BMW switches to front-wheel drive for its smallest crossover. More upmarket and practical than before, with decent handling, but on the pricey side. Not that economical or refined, though decent performance from all engines. LWB and hybrid for Chinese market from 2016 with a mid-life update in 2019; Europe added its hybrid model in 2020.
