BMW 2002.jpg

BMW 1502/BMW 1602/BMW 1802/BMW 2002 (Typ 114/E10/E20). 1968–77 (prod. 1,672 Turbo). 2-door saloon, 2-door convertible, 2-door cabriolet, 3-door estate. F/R, 1573, 1766, 1990 cm³ (I4 OHC). Two-door versions of the sporty Neue Klasse continued into the 1970s, with the 1600 formally referred to as the 1602 from 1971, instead of the informal 1600-2. The 2002, the first to receive an 02 designation officially, commenced production in 1968, with Tii added in 1971. Revolutionary 170 PS 2002 Turbo model (E20) from 1973, the first turbocharged German series production car, though it was short-lived due to its high fuel consumption in the year of the fuel crisis. Most models were replaced by 1975, when the 3er-Reihe was launched, though the 1502 was introduced as BMW’s base model for two more years. Convertibles by Baur: full convertibles to 1971, and a cabriolet with rollover bar thereafter, to 1975. Touring took 02 designations in 1973 (1802, 2002), made to 1974.
