Alfa Romeo Alfetta. 1972–84 (prod. 448,417). 4-door saloon. F/R, 1570, 1779, 1962 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1999, 2393 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). The car that took on the mantle of performance saloon following the end of production for the legendary Giulia. The Alfetta certainly had all the ingredients for success, such as the classic twin-cam engines up front, a transaxle gearbox for excellent weight distribution, and keen handling. Facelifted in 1979 to feature longer nose and tail and impact absorbing bumpers, but outside of its home country, the Alfetta failed to shine, and was overtaken by the newly emergent German mid-liners. Still, it begat the wonderful Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT and GTV.

Manufacturing location: Arese, Milano, Italy

Marque: Alfa Romeo | Model: Alfa Romeo Alfetta | Predecessor: Alfa Romeo Giulia (105) | Successor: Alfa Romeo 90
