1972 AMC Javelin Sport Coupe.jpg

American Motors Javelin/AMC Javelin. 1971–4 (prod. 111,488). 2-door coupé. F/R, 232, 258 in³ (I6 OHV), 304, 360, 401 in³ (V8 OHV). Restyled Javelin, but otherwise a continuation of the 1968–70 series. Swoopy sheetmetal incorporated some touches from Javelin’s fairly successful competition history. Conventional underpinnings, though handling package available. Roomier than other pony car competitors, but not the most reliable, as with most period AMC models. AMX with the same wheelbase in these years, and essentially a top trim with 401 in³ V8, and not the two-seater configuration of the previous model.

Manufacturing locations: Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA; Ciudad de México, México

Marque: AMC | Model: AMC Javelin | Predecessors: AMC Javelin (1968–70), AMC AMX
